Rally Obedience

Rally Obedience is a fun AKC and APDT sanctioned sport that requires dog and handler to heel through a designed course consisting of numbered signs called “stations” that direct the “team” to perform a variety of exercises including stays, turns, circling and directional movements that the team follows in numerical sequence.  A rally course includes 10 to 20 stations, depending on the level.

Exercises are similar to those used in formal obedience; however, unlimited communication (in any form) is encouraged and not penalized.  More fluid than traditional competitive obedience, Rally-O focuses on attitude and enthusiasm, allowing you to develop & display your versatility and teamwork.

Handlers are permitted to talk, praise, encourage, clap their hands, pat their legs, or use any verbal means of encouragement.  Multiple commands and/or signals using one or both arms and hands are allowed; the handler's arms need not be maintained in any particular position at any time.  The handler may not touch the dog or make physical corrections.  At any time during the performance, loud or harsh commands or intimidating signals are not allowed.  RALLY-O is a fun introduction to the world of dog sports or just one more way to spend quality time with your dog.
